The Malta Police Department is open by appointment only and is contracted through an intergovernmental agreement with DeKalb County Sheriff's Department. Police response to emergency and non-emergency calls for service are dispatched by the DeKalb County 9-1-1 Center and are shared with the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department. Incidents requiring criminal investigation are forwarded to the Detective Division of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department.
